After a muscle gain phase, at least one month should be spent in maintenance before starting a hypocaloric diet. This amount of time allows for settling points to adjust and is enough time to run at least one low volume mesocycle for resensitization to high volume lifting. Strength athletes should spend more time in maintenance after a muscle gain phase
