What's always funny to me about the 2021 championship debate, is people forgetting that Mercedes hit the jackpot due to COVID and shouldn't have been contending for the championship in the first place.

Let me explain:

The new regulations that were introduced in 2022 were supposed to be introduced in 2021. RedBull would have easily taken the 2021 championship, as they did in 2022, and Mercedes would have been nowhere, as they were nowhere in 2022. Only due to Covid and the world economy halting, F1 introduced a "gap" year and delayed the new regulations until 2022. In 2021 they carried over the previous gen 2020 cars and only allowed limited upgrades with the "token" system they exclusively introduced for that same gap year in 2021. All cards played into Mercedes' hands, giving them a head start by allowing them to carry over the already dominant 2020 car, while the entire grid was limited in developing their inferior cars due to the limited token system.

Bottom line: Mercedes should never have been a championship contender in 2021 if the new regulations were applied as originally planned. Covid and the artificial delay of the new regulations to 2022 is what made Mercedes competitive in 2021. Red Bull won the 2021 championship against all odds.

@planarize: Co miało się stać, a się nie stało jest bez znaczenia. Mówienie, że nie powinni walczyć o mistrzostwo trochę jest suche. Świat tak się potoczył nie inaczej, więc walczyli (i tak przerznęli xD)
