The angled sunbeam butterfly caterpillar (Curetis acuta, Lycaenidae) has an unusual reaction when slightly touched. The caterpillar will quickly extend its sensory organs, which look like a bouquet of hair-like tentacles, through its two periscopes and whirl them around to scare off a predator. They may also emit a repellent.
