On the operational side of things, here is how Kickstarter works: None of the pledges are processed into donations until a project concludes. If the goal is not met, nothing happens; all potential transactions are cancelled. If the goal is met, Amazon Payments processes all the pledges, and transfers the money to the project creator's account
