A statement issued by the democratic self-administration in Afrin province:

We are in the self-administration of Afrin province, we reaffirm once again that Afrin region is an integral part of Syria. Our forces in the people's protection units have been defending the region for six years and we will contribute in the protection of the territorial integrity of Syria and its national institutions.

This part of Syria is being subjected to external aggression by the Turkish state, which threatens the territorial integrity of Syria and the security and lives of the civilian citizens living in the area of Afrin. The aim of this aggression is to capture more Syrian territory by occupying Afrin area.

At the same time, we affirm that we will continue to defend Afrin region in the face of the outraged foreign attacks and we will confront the attempts of the Turkish occupation of Afrin.

We call upon the Syrian state to carry out its sovereign duties towards Afrin and protect its borders with Turkey from attacks by the Turkish occupier, and the deployment of its Syrian armed forces to secure the borders of the Afrin region.
