Gdy w pierwszym wieku naszej ery, za panowania cesarza Klaudiusza, Rzymianie przypuścili inwazję na Wyspy Brytyjskie. Hordy celtyckich wojów, mimo zaciekłego i mężnego oporu, musiały w końcu ulec karnym i świetnie wyszkolonym legionistom, a rzymski „Pax Romana” szybko stał się na wyspach faktem dokonanym. Rzymska okupacja nie wszystkim jednak przypadła do gustu. Najliczniejszą grupę w antyrzymskiej opozycji stanowili druidzi, których Rzymianie bezwzględnie prześladowali. Kim jednak byli druidzi?
