Realizing more and more that software engineers are at the bottom of the hierarchy at companies (even tech companies).

Funny how we are usually the hardest workers and the most technical, yet we are at the bottom of the hierarchy, even at big tech companies.

Non-technical people basically tell us what to do, when to do it, and sometimes even attempt to tell us how to do it.

All these deadlines and pressure from non-technical management, hell, even technical management, is insane.

I'm coming to grips with the fact that we are literally at the bottom of the hierarchy in a traditional company.

It's always our fault when shit breaks. It's always our fault when deadlines aren't hit. It's always our fault for everything.

Yet it's never because of us that something is running smoothly. It's never because of us when all the deadlines are hit. It's never because of us when a project gets launched.

I find it SO difficult to stop thinking about work 24/7 because of this. Meanwhile some project manager shows up, makes a few powerpoints, does his 9 to 5 and then goes home without thinking twice about anything.

Fuck this boys. Time to become a project manager.
