Summary:

-hybrid formula getting out of control: manufacturers cannot be forced to supply teams, refuse to accept price caps, and call for

-less development restrictions; FIA powerless to prevent any of it

-even Jean Todt had to come to the conclusion that the manufacturers now control who is competitive and who isn't

-hybrid opponent Ecclestone and hybrid proponent Todt teamed up to solve the engine situation

-2.2L V6 biturbo capped at €6m as an alternative engine available to all teams

-engine good enough to beat Mercedes'

-presentation will be next week

-whether or not a standard KERS will be used is under discussion; the technology is available at reasonable prices

-FIA will use simulations to find boost limit that will make the engine competitive

-FIA expected to start tender process next week

-Cosworth and Illmor are expected to submit offers

-the same basic engine formula is used by IndyCar, so Illmor could just adapt those engines for regular fuel (IC use alcohol)

-fuel consumption will increase significantly with the alternative engine - 30-40L over a race distance

-this will require new cars, because the fuel tanks will have to be bigger

-alternative engine could be Red Bull's solution, and would explain why they only need an engine for one year

-FIA needs approval from the majority of the teams to push through the proposal

-many teams have long-term contract with manufacturers, but they could afford to upset them because a cheap competitive

engine could help them to survive in the long term

-manufacturers will try everything to prevent the alternative engines from happening

-immense investments into high tech engines would not make sense if they could be beaten by relatively simple technology

-Mercedes, Honda, and Renault could pull the plug for 2017

-it is speculated that Ecclestone and Todt only want to use alternative engines as leverage to achieve their ultimate goal affordable engines for everyone; this, however, would not end Mercedes' dominance or decrease the political power of the manufacturers

ma być to:

FIA will use simulations to find boost limit that will make the engine competitive

Czyli to FIA bedzie decydowac kto jest konkurencyjny a kto nie. Super zmiana na lepsze ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
