Często na jałowej ziemi (piasek, żwir) jest cienka warstwa żyźniejszej gleby, w której drzewa zapuszczają korzenie na boki, a nie wgłąb, więc nie są zbyt solidnie zakorzenione. Często widać to nad morzem, przy plażach i wydmach (widziałem to np. w Łebie). Wieje wiatr, to i korzenie pracują dając taki ciekawy efekt.
