@Mannaz_Isaz_Raido_Kaunan_Othala: I went to London, Paris, Berlin, and Rome in 2013. London was expensive. Paris was a bit rude/unfriendly. Berlin was fairly clean. Loved the food in Italy. My experience in Germany in 2013 wasn’t that bad. Given how Germany is now, I probably wouldn’t go. Japan today is very different from its imperial history. I’d imagine I wouldn’t feel too uncomfortable there, but at the same time I don’t

@HaHard:

1. I think it’s more a problem between urban areas and rural areas. Cities are more liberal, rural areas are more conservative. It seems rural area folk like to keep what they have, and city folk seem entitled and benefits and programs and handouts.
2. Economically China, militarily Russia. I think we were weakened by our last administration’s world apology tour and globalist efforts. We’re making a comeback I

@HaHard: I think it’s a cultural problem. Upbringing has a lot to do with it (look at World Star Hip Hop). And yes it’s normally taboo to bring it up—you’re called racist if you acknowledge it here. There are cities I’d be uncomfortable in during the day, and wouldn’t go at night—Detroit is a good example of that. I don’t consider the past to be the cause for new behavior

@Akaano: Our deployments are based off unit rotations, so it just depends on how long its been since your unit deployed--they usually deploy once every 3 years. Korea and Germany deployments are usually 2 year rotations, but you can request to stay longer. For combat deployments, those used to last longer like a year or so (first gulf war), but now (in last 4 years or so) they're usually 6

The U.S. was involved in providing supplies to the United Kingdom via cargo vessels etc, but were not invested in WWII until the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. Once that happened, the President at that time decided that a drawn out conflict in the pacific plus one in Europe would be unwinnable,

@lilost: mental health counseling works for a lot of people. Not just antidepressants, but like group therapy. That's what the US Military relies on for PTSD is group therapy with others you can relate to. They have the same for family therapy, domestic violence survivors--even schools are getting involved with it here.

Emotional numbing plus a history of trauma are all symptoms of PTSD--which doesn't have to be combat related.

Most soldiers go through basic training (9wk), their individual military occupational specialty school (varies, 3wk to a year), training with their units (varies).
