Nie chcę przez to powiedzieć, że dałem się zwieść myśleniu że jestem kimś w rodzaju doskonałego, stworzonego przez samego siebie człowieka. Otrzymałem wiele korzyści od życia, urodziłem się w bogatym kraju, wychowywany przez odpowiednich rodziców i rodzeństwo, nauczany przez odpowiednich nauczycieli i wiele innych rzeczy.

W mojej przeszłości jest mnóstwo szczęścia, z których dużym jest szczęście, że moi rodzice nie rozpieszczali mnie drogimi przedmiotami które miały udawać wysoki status społeczny wśród rówieśników

Czy mówię, że wada "posiadania biednych rodziców" faktycznie jest zaletą? Dokładnie tak.

This is not to say that I’ve deluded myself into thinking I am some kind of superlative self-made man. I have had loads of advantages handed to me, including being born in a rich country, raised by the right parents and siblings, taught by the right teachers, and many other things. There is plenty of good luck in my past, not the least of which is the luck of having parents which handed me fewer silver-plated luxuries than most other parents give their own kids.

What’s this? Am I saying that a disadvantage actually ends up being an advantage? I sure am.
