We had a guy with the last name Echo who couldn't buy anything from us. Turns out that our credit card processor had a blacklist that included common Unix commands.

A guy a know, last name O'Neil, legally changed his last name to "ONeil" because there were enough shitty websites where he couldn't enter his own last name, or they'd just strip out the ' anyways. Use parameterization people.

I had a student with the last name True that kept messing up my spreadsheets...

My Mom is an elementary school teacher and one year they had a student of Asian decent whose name was " NMN " on the class roll, she thought NMN was a cultural thing, so she called him " Nimmin" all year until she made the mistake of calling him that in front of his Mother and it came out that he had didn't have a middle name. The course software used NMN to point out that there was "No Middle Name".

My last name is Root. I have trouble with all sorts of things. Almost every time I sign up for automated billing, it breaks. I even had trouble with my paycheck being automatically deposited at my bank. It's pretty cool last name for a programmer though, I guess.

There is a story about a guy who got a vanity license plate as a joke that was NOPLATE. He then was getting thousands of parking tickets a year from all over the state.
